Worn on the upper right hand side of the body, they should include your first & last names and your company, title or industry. Think of these as ice breakers....they will give people a reason to speak with you and learn more about what you do. Consider your audience--and update your name badge when appropriate. (For example, CPAs don't need to put CPA on their name badge during a CPA industry event. Rather, putting "audit" or "tax" instead will offer a better ice breaker. Conversely, if the CPA is attending a Chamber of Commerce event, putting "CPA" on your badge will tell everyone what you do immediately!

Each of us in our own way has had to deal with issues relative to the negative sides of the recession. Whether in the form of down-sizing, budgetary limitations or program eliminations, we’ve all been touched in some way, shape or form.
One company recently found a way to help other nonprofit organizations as they underwent budgetary cuts and program eliminations. APS Healthcare located in Atlanta turned a not-so-good situation into a positive for some very lucky organizations. As one of their funded programs was eliminated, APS Services decided to use their surplus of office supply items to bless others and gave them to other nonprofit organizations that could use them.
On the list were post-it notes, staplers, tape, scissors, books, office desk trays, pencils, pens and manymore. Nonprofi ts had a 3-hour window to pick up their items. What can you do as a business should that happen to you? What can you do if a program closes its doors and you have a surplus of items that could potentially be wasted? Find a way to give it to others that can use it.
